Windows 7 watermark hack

Updated: This method works for both Windows 7 32-bit, and 64-bit version.

After downloaded and installed successful Windows 7 RC1 build 7100 today, the most annoying thing is a watermark “Windows 7 Evaluation Copy. Build XXXX” at the bottom right on desktop.

So, here is how you can remove it:

1. Download W7_RemoveWatermark.zip (2097) and extract to a Folder.
2. Run RemoveWatermarkX86.exe for 32bit or run RemoveWatermarkX64.exe for 64bit.
3. Follow the instruction on the file.
4. Restart the PC.

Enjoys, simple as that. Hope it will work for you.

I’m glad it works for you guys. I forgot where I got this one. I’d have giving the credits to whoever made this little program.

Oh, BTW, you MUST restart your PC to make it work.

Shame this little fix only seems to work on x86, and not on x64 :s

This actually worked thanks. I downloaded Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100 last week x86 English for the 32 bit system and set the AUC to it’s lowest settings. I ran the file and selected Yes when asked and followed the propmts that said the watermark was removed. The watermark still remains until you reboot, then it is gone. I am currently dual booting with a preinstalled Vista 32 bit and for Some reason both Vista and W7 both show themselves as the C: Drive when each is used. Go figure.
